The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 3.2 points or 2.4% from 132.0 in December 2023 to 135.2 in January 2024.
Year-on-year (Y-o-y) inflation worked out to 5.2% in January 2024, compared to 11.8% in January 2023. Headline inflation for the 12-months ending January 2024 worked out to 6.5%, compared to 11.1% for the 12-months ending January 2023.
Y-o-y CORE1 inflation stood at 2.7% in January 2024, compared to 9.4% in January 2023 while, y-o-y CORE2 inflation worked out to 3.5% in January 2024, compared to 7.5% in January 2023.
CORE1 inflation for the 12-months ending January 2024 stood at 4.6%, compared to 9.6% in January 2023. Similarly, CORE2 inflation for the 12-months ending January 2024 worked out to 4.9%, compared to 7.5% in January 2023.
