The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation convened a meeting to review preparations for the fifth IMMAF Youth World Championships, scheduled at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City from August 6–10, 2024.
This marks the event’s third consecutive year in the UAE capital and is expected to draw more than 800 participants from over 45 countries.
Chaired by H.E. Mohamed bin Dalmuk Al Dhaheri, Board member of UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and Chairman of the Federation’s MMA committee, the meeting assessed various aspects of the preparations for the event.
The attendees extended gratitude to the UAE’s visionary leadership for their limitless support to sports and athletes in the UAE, noting it as the cornerstone for the success of the various events organized and hosted in the country.
The meeting focused on ways to enhance organizational standards, emphasizing Abu Dhabi’s status as the global capital of martial arts and a leading destination for hosting major global championships providing innovative and unique experiences for athletes and spectators alike.
Al Dhaheri said: “Abu Dhabi hosting the IMMAF Youth World Championships for the 3rd consecutive year reflects the trust from the global sports community and continental and international federations.”
“The meeting reviewed the plans and preparations for hosting the championship in coordination with various entities and partners to ensure delivering the event according to the highest international standards and offering the global sports community an exceptional experience on all levels. The championship is set to offer a range of entertainment, cultural, and heritage activities, providing a unique platform for community interaction and offering Abu Dhabi’s guests exceptional experiences that highlight the cultural richness of the UAE. »
Al Dhaheri added: “As the championship approaches, the UAE National Team is preparing to compete through an intensive training program, aiming to excel and deliver high performances that enable them to stand out, win medals, and take the podium. »
Acknowledging a notable increase in athlete registrations and participating countries compared to last year, the Federation noted the event is extended by one day to accommodate demand. This growth underscores the significant growth of mixed martial arts worldwide, the championship’s expanding global appeal, and the organisational team’s dedication to excellence.
