Strong Wind and Heavy Swell warnings for St Brandon

The combined effect of the tropical depression to the west of Diego Garcia and a rather strong anticyclone almost to the South of the Mascarenes is causing a windy weather over the region of St Brandon.

Wind will blow from the south-east at a mean speed 45 km/h with gusts reaching 90 km/h.

Therefore, it is advised to be very cautious to flying debris such as broken branches or falling trees.

Heavy swells from the south west will continue to influence the sea state around Saint Brandon.

Sea will be rough to very rough with swells of the order of 4 metres.

These waves may break along the coasts during high tides.

It is strongly advised not to go out at sea and not to venture along the coasts.
