Winter School Holidays 2024 Programme

1. Animation Vacances
– Each Youth Centre/Youth Hub to organize activities such as Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Petanque, Table Tennis, Molkky, Carrom, Domino, Scrabble and other indoor and outdoor games, depending upon the available facilities at the Centre.
– The services of Sport Coaches will be required to help in these activities.
– Each Centre to work out a programme of activities and also to design a poster.
– Activities to be organized twice weekly during the school holidays period.
– All activities will be free and non-competitive.

2. Lwazir Zen
– Various activities will be organized at Pointe Jerome Recreation Centre such as Quad biking, Boat Trip, Kayak, Pedalo, Cycling and Paddle.
– 1 bus per region will be provided for conveyance of participants.
– The Animateurs of the Mauritius Recreation Council will help in these activities.
– Dates: Saturday 20 July (Grand Port region)
Monday 22 July (Moka and Flacq regions)
Tuesday 23 July (Black River and Port Louis regions)
Thursday 25 July (Grand Port and Savanne regions)
Monday 29 July (Pamplemousses and Riviere du Rempart regions)
Wednesday 31 July (Upper and Lower Plaine Wilhems regions)
Friday 2 August (Savanne and Grand Port regions)

3. Treasure Hunt – “La Route de L`histoire”
– This activity aims at giving the opportunity to young people to discover the history of Mauritius.
– Two Treasure Hunts will be organized. The first one from Curepipe to Vieux Grand Port and the second one from Curepipe to Port Louis. Questionnaires will be set up on the historical sites and monuments of Mauritius.
– Each Treasure Hunt will regroup 5 regions. Each region to select 10 participants and a van will be provided to them for the whole day for this activity.
– An organizing team will be set up to work out the questionnaires.
– Cash prizes or vouchers to be awarded to the best 3 teams of each Treasure Hunt.
– Dates: Tuesday 6 August (Moka, Flacq, Port Louis, Upper P Wilhems and Lower P Wilhems regions)
Thursday 8 August (Grand Port, Savanne, Black River, Pamplemousses and Riviere du Rempart regions)

4. Environmental Coastal Walk
– Two environmental coastal walks will be organized to involve young people in the preservation aspect of the environment.
– The participants will clean up the tracks. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided to them.
– Date: Wednesday 7 August
– Track: Le Goulet – Pointe aux Piments
– Regions: Pamplemousses, Riviere du Rempart, Port Louis, Black River and Flacq
– Date: Friday 9 August
– Track: Le Souffleur – Le Bouchon
– Regions: Grand Port, Savanne, Moka, Lower P Wilhems and Upper P Wilhems

5. Inter Centre PS5 Competition
– PS5 competitions to be held in the 12 Youth Centres/Youth Hubs during Animation Vacances.
– The best 2 players of each Youth Centre/Youth Hub to be qualified for a Grand Finale.
– Date for the final: Saturday 10 August 2024.
– Proposed Venue: Tribeca Mall

6. Initiation to Skateboarding and Roller Skating
– 30 young people to be selected to participate in this activity
– 3 vans of the Ministry will be required to convey participants
– Conic Sports will provide equipment and will be responsible for the organizational aspect.
– Date: Monday 5 August
– Venue: Beau Vallon BMX/Skate Park

7. Conver Rally Hiking
– 300 participants from 5 regions will converge to Telfair Garden, Souillac from 5 different starting points.
– 300 participants from 5 regions will converge to Bras D`Eau National Park from 5 different starting points.
– Itineraries will be finalized.
