The official launch was marked by a grand event on Thursday 11th of July 2024 at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel. This significant occasion saw the presence of distinguished guests, underscoring the importance of this new venture in the realm of international education in Mauritius and the region. Speakers were Hon. Mrs. Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, G.C.S.K., Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Mauritius, Her Excellency Ms. Kate Chamley, Australian High Commissioner to Mauritius, Roshan Perera, Assistant Executive Director of Examinations, Certification, and Testing of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, Department of Education, Government of Western Australia, Jarad Ceely from StudyWest Education Services, Perth and Simon Seebaluck, Director of StudyWest Mauritius. ‘

Our existing partnerships with Australian institutions, such as the University of Mauritius, the University of Technology of Mauritius, and Polytechnics Mauritius, are testaments to this shared vision. Study West’s presence in Mauritius is a game-changer. It not only benefits Mauritian students but also positions our nation as a regional hub for higher education, attracting students from across Africa and beyond. As part of its ongoing commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities, Study West organized the Western Australian Open Day – Study in Western Australia Student Fair on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, at the Caudan Arts Centre in Port Louis. The fair offered a unique opportunity for Mauritian students, parents, and educators to engage with representatives from esteemed Western Australian universities, Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions, vocational providers, and high schools. This event showcased the vast educational landscape of Western Australia and foster stronger educational ties between Mauritius, Africa, and Australia.

Simon Seebaluck, Director of StudyWest Mauritius shared :

“At StudyWest, we focus on young people who are unsure about what to do after secondary school, particularly those who may not have performed well in their exams and think they can’t go to university, despite having great potential. I would like to thank everyone who visited the fair today. I appreciate the parents and students who placed their trust in us. I was surprised to see that 250 people attended, and there were many online registrations as well. We have a lot of work ahead to help the Mauritian public. As I mentioned in my speech: A seat for all. It’s not just the elite who can go abroad to learn; everyone should have access to education.”
