les membres du cabinet ont pris note que des régulations seront faites sous la loi du Declaration of Assets Act 2018, de la signature prochaine d’une convention avec Madagascar dans le domaine du crime

1. Cabinet has agreed to Regulations being made under the Declaration of Assets Act 2018, to prescribe the statutory bodies that would to be excluded from the ambit of the Declaration of Assets Act and the appropriate forms to be used for the filing of declaration of assets.

2. Cabinet has agreed to the Government of Mauritius signing an Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters with the Government of the Republic of Madagascar during the forthcoming State Visit of the President of the Republic of Madagascar. The Agreement would be an important tool in the fight against drug trafficking and financial crime, including money laundering.

3. Cabinet has agreed to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Tertiary Education and Scientific Research between the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, Tertiary Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Madagascar during the forthcoming State Visit of the President of the Republic of Madagascar. The Memorandum of Understanding aims at fostering cooperation among the higher education institutions of both countries. The areas of collaboration would include biodiversity, agriculture, food security, health, environment, climate change and renewable energies.

Both parties would endeavour to support regional exchange of knowledge, through the organisation of, inter alia, seminars, symposia and exhibitions relating to scientific research and tertiary education.

4. Cabinet has agreed to the Mauritius Standards Bureau, signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bureau des Normes de Madagascar during the forthcoming State Visit of the President of the Republic of Madagascar. The main objective of the Memorandum of Understanding is to provide a framework for scientific and technical cooperation between the Mauritius Standards Bureau and the Bureau des Normes de Madagascar, in the field of standardisation and related activities. The areas of cooperation include:

(a) capacity building through exchange programmes and training;

(b) organisation of workshops and seminars;

(c) exchange of standards and information; and

(d) mutual recognition of test reports, certificate of conformity and certification mark.

5. Cabinet has taken note of the activities that would be organised to mark the World Consumer Rights Day observed on 15 March, namely:

(a) officers of the Consumer Affairs Unit would be present at main hypermarkets/ supermarkets across the country on 15, 16, and 17 March 2019 to sensitise the public on the theme “Trusted Smart Products” and the basic rights of consumers, distribute booklets and flyers and also to answer to any queries from consumers;

(b) broadcast of talks, presentations and group discussions on TV and radio; and

(c) local authorities would display for the benefit of consumers, message on the eight basic consumer rights. The message would also be sent to public officers via email.

6. Cabinet has taken note of the reconstitution of the Board of the Public Officers’ Welfare Council with Mr Premhans Jhugroo, Secretary for Public Service as Chairperson.
