Le Children’s Bill en route

Le gouvernement a donné son aval afin que ce projet si attendu soit « draftée » pour être présentée comme un projet de loi au parlement dans les mois à venir.

Cabinet has agreed to the drafting of the Children’s Bill in accordance with the major policy orientations elaborated following consultations with key stakeholders. The main objectives of the Children’s Bill are, inter alia, to:

(a) transpose into domestic law the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child;
(b) include new provisions with regard to the best interests of the child, inter alia, better care and protection to children, promoting the development and welfare of children, including children with disabilities, and providing assistance and protection to families; and
(c) repeal the existing Child Protection Act 1994.
