The Consumer Price Index, which stood at 104.4 in March 2019, registered a net decrease of 1.0 point (or 1.0%) to reach 103.4 in June 2019. The main reasons for the net decrease in the CPI from March to June 2019 were:

price decreases of gasolene (-0.2 point) and cooking gas (-0.1 point) following 2019/20 budget;
lower prices of vegetables (-0.9 point) and meat (-0.1 point);
partly offset by
higher prices of traders’ rice (+0.1 point) and air tickets (+0.2 point).

The headline inflation rate for the twelve months ending June 2019 works out to 1.0%, compared to 4.3% for the twelve months ending June 2018.

The headline inflation rate excluding “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” for the twelve months ending June 2019 works out to 1.1% compared to 3.5% for the twelve months ending June 2018.
