The Construction Price Index which stood at 101.3 in March 2019, registered an increase of 0.3 point (0.3%) during the second quarter of 2019 to reach 101.6 in June 2019.
During the second quarter of 2019, increases were noted only in the sub-indices “Hire of Plant” (0.1%) and “Materials” (0.7%). The “Labour” and “Transport” sub-indices remained unchanged.
The increase in the “Hire of Plant” sub-index is due to higher rates for the hiring of metal plaques and that of the “Materials” sub-index was mainly due to increases in the prices of:
(i) premixed concrete in April (3.4%);
(ii) laminated flooring in May (0.8%);
(iii) premixed mortar in May (0.4%);
(iv) tiles and granite in May (0.4%); and
(v) plumbing in June (0.2%).
