Labour force, Employment and Unemployment for 3rd Quarter 2019

Among an estimated 997,100 Mauritians aged 16 years and over in the third quarter of 2019, around 585,000 were in the labour force (economically active), with 545,700 employed and 39,300 unemployed (15,500 males and 23,800 females). The remaining 412,100 persons were outside labour force.

The unemployment rate for the third quarter of 2019 is estimated at 6.7%, lower than the rate of 6.9% at the third quarter of 2018 but higher than the rate of 6.6% at the second quarter of 2019.
