Les membres du gouvernement ont pris connaissance des prévisions de Mauritius Meteorological Services pour la saison estivale 2022.

Cabinet has taken note of t he updated report of the Mauriti us Meteorological Services with regard to the seasonal outlook for summer 2022 2023 for Mauritius and Rodrigues. After careful analysis of the behaviour of all indicators and taking into consideration analogue patterns, the Mauritius Meteorological Services has concluded that:
(a) the onset of summer rain would be further delayed and was now expected during the second week of January 2023;
(b) as from the second half of January 2023 up to the end of April 2023, atmospheric conditions would become conducive to the occurrence of extreme weather events such as violent thunderstorms and heavy rainfall;
(c) temperatures would be close to normal;
(d) occasional above normal temperatures together with prolonged periods of high humidity and light wind conditions, could result in torrid conditions particularly during the months of January to March 2023;
(e) the number of named storms evolving in the South West Indian Ocean basin for the 2022-2023 cyclonic season was likely to be between seven and nine; and
(f) heavy swells generated by tropical cyclones evolving in the vicinity of the Mascarene Islands might affect the shores of the Islands of Mauritius, Rodrigues, Agalega and St Brandon.
