The airmass over the region remains very moist and unstable, which is very conducive for the formation of other active clouds in the vicinity of the island.

Therefore, other episodes of moderate to heavy showers are still possible especially to the West and to the South.

However, the rainfall has considerably decreased during the last hours. Thus, the torrential rain warning may be waived tomorrow, Saturday 28 January, in the morning at 0400. In such a scenario, a heavy rain watch will be in force.

Highest rainfall recorded in the last 12 hours up to 22h00 are as follows:
Quatre Soeurs: 52mm
Rose Belle: 31mm
Mon Loisir Sugar Estate: 29mm
Champ de Mars: 27mm
Wooton 25.3mm

A torrential rainfall warning remains in force in Mauritius.

Rivers and watercourses will remain flooded. There will also be water accumulation and fog patches in several regions.

The public is advised to:
1. Remain in safe places and avoid open areas, hikings, sea ventures and sheltering under trees
during thunderstorms.
2. Avoid places prone to water accumulation, river banks and other water courses.
3. Be very cautious on the roads due to reduced visibility.
