No torrential rain warning is in force in Mauritius, a Heavy Rain Watch for Mauritius is in force as from 4am this Saturday 28th January 2023.

The air mass remains very humid and unstable over our region, favorable to the formation of active clouds in the vicinity of the island. The sky will be partly overcast to cloudy this morning with occasional showers.

Showers, sometimes heavy and stormy, are expected on the southern and eastern parts and on the Central Plateau this afternoon. Showers will spread to other areas as well.

Mostly cloudy overnight with showers. Showers could be moderate and stormy at the start of the night.

Practical tip:
1. During thunderstorms, the public is advised to take shelter and avoid plains, hiking, sea trips and not to shelter under trees.
2. To avoid places subject to accumulations of water, the surroundings of rivers and other watercourses which could be in flood, as well as mountain slopes subject to landslides
3. To be very careful on the roads due to reduced visibility due to heavy showers and fog.
