Julie Gopal heads to France for a trial with professional players.
2 min readCôte d’Or National Sports Complex announced that Julie Gopal, one of the most remarkable and talented players of the Liverpool Football Club International Academy Mauritius, will be heading for a trial at the renowned Brest Football Club, Stade Brestois 29 in Britanny, from 3 to 9 April 2023.
In close collaboration with David Martinache, football agent from Nash Football based in Mauritius, this amazing opportunity has been created for Julie to travel to the Hexagon. The 7-day trial will see Julie train with the first team squad who evolve in Ligue 2 and she will have the chance to impress the team managers with the hope of securing a pre-professional contract for when she turns 18.

Julie is the premier female talent on the island and as a 16 year old, she has already gained numerous senior caps with the female selection team of Mauritius. She recently made the headlines with the goal of tournament during the Women’s International Friendly Tournament Saudi Arabia 2023. She is a role model for all other female players in the academy and has a bright future in football.
• This is a first for Mauritius as a female player has never played overseas before.
• With the expert assistance of the High Performance Centre Mauritius, Julie is on a 2-month tailormade performance programme under the close supervision of strength and conditioning specialist, Audrey Grancourt. She is also training at the academy on a full basis with the 2008/ 7 male squad.
