Monthly External Merchandise Trade Statistics for December 2022

Balance of Visible Trade showed a deficit of Rs 19,203 million in December 2022, higher by 9.6 % compared to the previous month and by 20.7 % compared to the corresponding month of 2021.

In December 2022, total imports increased by 12.6 % compared to November 2022 and by 22.0 % compared to December 2021 whereas total exports increased by 19.0% compared to November 2022 and by 24.5 % compared to December 2021.

In December 2022, South Africa (10.2%), Spain (9.3%), United Kingdom (7.9%), France (6.9%), Madagascar (6.7%) and United States (6.3%) were our major exports destinations while our imports were mainly from China (15.9%), India (10.6%), Oman (10.4%), South Africa (9.1 %), U.A.E. (8.5%) and France (5.8%).
