Ti Rayons de Soleil NGO receives a bus from Japan
1 min readOn the 8th of May 2023, the Embassy of Japan in Mauritius and the NGO Ti Rayons Soleil officiated the handover ceremony of one 15 seats bus at the NGO’s headquarters in Vacoas.
The bus was handed over by the Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro to the president of the NGO Ti Rayons Soleil, Mrs. Bérengère Sériès. This was made possible by Japan’s official development assistance programme, Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP, or « KUSANONE »).
The Grant has been allocated to the NGO for “The Project for Procurement of Bus to Provide Learning and Food Support in the Midwestern Mauritius” which formalized the amount of 24,273 EUR, (approximately 1.1 Million MUR). This project will enable the NGO Ti Rayons Soleil to provide safe and free transportation to children who come to after school program (6~13 years old) as well as food support for children and family in need.
The NGO Ti Rayons Soleil is currently running 4 pre-primary schools. It aims at offering after school program, such as, providing educational support and dinner before going back home as well as supporting children and women in vulnerable situation through education, training and empowerment programmes.
