The Satellite Picture at 13h00 on the 16th May 2023 depicts Tropical Cyclone Fabien near 7.0 South / 75.4 East.

Evolution of Tropical Cyclone Fabien
The cyclone season ends around 15 May. The environmental conditions near the equatorial region remain favourable for further intensification of the tropical cyclone Fabien. The Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre (RSMC) La Reunion is in agreement with this analysis.

The available Numerical Weather Products (NWP) together with the output of the RSMC are expecting the system to move slowly towards the southwest and after Friday 19 May the system will start to weaken. The peak intensity is expected on Wednesday 17 May where Fabien may become an intense tropical cyclone. After Monday 22 May, the system is expected to continue to track in a general Westerly direction.

Since, Tropical Cyclone Fabien is evolving very far to the northeast of the Mascarenes, it will not influence the weather over the islands for the next five days.
