Les membres du gouvernement ont pris note du nouveau système d’alerte qui sera mis en services pour le Mauritius Meteorological Services prochainement avec la promulgation du Mauritius Meteorological Services (Warnings) Regulations 2023.
Cabinet has taken note that the Mauritius Meteorological Services (Warnings) Regulations 2023 would be promulgated. The purpose of the Regulations would be to provide a legal framework for the cyclone warning system in Mauritius, including the introduction of new phases, as well as for early warning in respect of other hazards, namely heavy rain, heavy swell, storm surge and strong wind.
The existing cyclone warning system would now be upgraded to six tiers with the introduction of a safety bulletin. The Mauritius Meteorological Services would also issue heavy rain warning, which would consist of three tiers with the introduction of a heavy rain watch.
