IMMAF announces full schedule for World Championships Week

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is set to cap off its 2022 Amateur MMA season with IMMAF World Championships Week from February 10-18, 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Throughout the eight-day spectacle, IMMAF will host several exciting events, with the 2022 IMMAF World Championships Junior and Senior Finals confirmed to take place on Thursday, Feb. 16th and Friday, Feb. 17th streaming live on IMMAF.TV.

IMMAF World Championships Week will climax with professional MMA event BRAVE CF 69 on Saturday, Feb. 18th.

The full schedule of events and activities for IMMAF World Championships Week will be confirmed by IMMAF President Kerrith Brown at the official pre-Championships press conference, Sunday, January 15th at 10:30 a.m. at the Hotel Crown Plaza (Vladimira Popovića 10, Beograd 11070).

Alongside Mr. Brown, Serbian MMA Federation President Luka Nikolić, BRAVE CF President Mohammed Shahid, Serbian professional UFC star Aleksandar Rakić and Minister of Sport for Serbia Zoran Gajić will all attend the press conference.

2022 IMMAF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The best of the best in Amateur MMA will compete at the 2022 IMMAF World Championships for Seniors and Juniors. The two tournaments will take place at Štark Arena, in Novi Beograd, from February 11-17. The tournament draws will take place on Friday, Feb. 10th following registration.

Over 550 athletes from 63 countries are expected to compete in Serbia, making the 2022 IMMAF World Championships the biggest event in the international governing body’s history. A number of champions from the 2022 season are set to return including: Sabrina de Sousa (BRN), Ramazan Gitinov (BRN), Magdalena Czaban (POL), Fergus Jenkins (NZL), Otabek Rajabov (TJK) and Veja Hinda (NAM).

The Senior competition will feature six weight divisions for female athletes, from Atomweight to Lightweight, and ten for male athletes, from Strawweight to Super Heavyweight. The World Championships will be conducted per the latest IMMAF Amateur rules. All six days of action will be available to stream on IMMAF’s OTT platform, IMMAF.TV, for fans all over the World.

IMMAF CERTIFICATION COURSES
The Coach Education and Certification course and Cutman Training, both led by IMMAF Director of Sport Development Andrew Moshanov, will take place before the start of the 2022 World Championships. The two-day program will take place from February 10-11 and will provide an insight into the practice and procedure of cutmen & cutwomen and the competency of youth MMA coaches.

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate and can benefit from the opportunity of gaining experience by joining the World Championships organizing team through the IMMAF Volunteers program.

IMMAF AMATEUR MMA AWARDS
The best athletes, national federations, coaches, officials and more will be formally recognised at the 2022 IMMAF Amateur MMA Awards for their achievements and commitment to mixed martial arts during the past year. The exclusive black-tie ceremony, which takes place on Feb. 15th, will gather representatives from over 63 national federations in addition to the IMMAF Board of Directors, staff members and media.

IMMAF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
IMMAF’s Board of Directors invites IMMAF National Federations to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to discuss and vote on matters related to the future of Amateur MMA around the world.

BRAVE CF 69
IMMAF World Championships Week will culminate with BRAVE CF 69 on February 18, at Štark Arena in Novi Beograd. This is BRAVE Combat Federation’s first event of the year and a confirmation of its commitment to helping grow the booming Balkan MMA scene.

IMMAF is proud to foster a strong working relationship with BRAVE Combat Federation as both organisations work together to foster the development of the mixed martial arts worldwide. Since its inception in 2016, BRAVE CF, under the leadership of Mohammed Shahid and the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa have become one of the most prominent and consistent professional organisations in world MMA.
