Communiqué from National Emergency Operations Command

According to the Mauritius Meteorological Services a Cyclone Warning Class III is in force in Mauritius as from 0410hrs today, Monday 20 February 2023.

Sea will be high becoming phenomenal with heavy swells. As Freddy approaches Mauritius, storm surge is likely to cause coastal inundation to the North and the East .

It is therefore strictly advised not to go at sea.

People who live close to the beach to take necessary precautions and be ready to take shelter in evacuation centres if need be.

Evacuation centres are operational as from Cyclone Warning Class III
