The Embassy of Japan in Mauritius launched the Japanese Film Festival 2023 on Sunday 26th of March, at the Hennessy Park Hotel at 10h00, with the projection of “Shoplifters” by Kore-Eda Hirokazu.

This film was awarded the prestigious Palme d’Or at the 71st Cannes Film Festival of 2018 and this will be its unique screening. The Mauritian public and press are invited to this free cultural event.

The Japanese Film Festival 2023 will be held from the 26th of March till the 11th of April and will be also projecting the two following movies: “Where I belong” (Japanese title: “Shabondama”) and “Between us” (Japanese title: “Ai ni hibike”).

These two movies will be projected at the Curtin Mauritius and the Lycée des Mascareignes. These screenings will be limited to the students and staff of these two educational entities and will not be open to the public.

The JFF 2023 is organized for the first time after almost four years of COVID-19 related confinement and public restrictive measures.
