Mobile cellular subscriptions increased by 4.3% from 1,839,500 in 2017 to reach 1,918,000 in 2018. Mobidensity, or the number of mobile cellular phones per 100 inhabitants also increased by 4.3% from 145.4 to 151.6 during the same period.

Internet subscriptions
The number of internet subscriptions increased by 8.6% from 1,248,000 in 2017 to 1,355,600 in 2018. Hence, the number of internet subscriptions per 100 inhabitants works out to 107.1 in 2018, higher than the 2017 ratio of 98.7.

Employment
The number of large establishments (employing 10 or more persons) operating in the ICT sector decreased from 126 in 2017 to 122 in 2018. However, employment increased by 2.5% from 15,761 in 2017 to 16,157 in 2018.

Contribution of ICT to Gross Value Added (GVA)
In 2018, value added at current prices generated by the ICT sector rose by 5.9% from Rs 22,894 million in 2017 to Rs 24,248 million. The real growth rate went up from 4.4% to 5.3% in 2018. The share of ICT in GVA was 5.7% in 2018, same as in 2017.
